Mechanical Work:
- Scraping was conducted on the bed, headstock, tailstock, and saddle to ensure circular runout and linear accuracies within 10 microns.
- Worn-out parts were identified, replaced, and existing components were cleaned and refurbished during the reassembly phase.
- Key components, including the electromechanical turret, spindle, chuck, hydraulic power pack, lubrication, and coolant units, were restored to optimal condition.
Electrical & CNC Control Work:
- A complete retrofit of the electrical and CNC control systems was performed, including a new electrical panel, wiring, switches, relays, and other components.
- The CNC control system was integrated with servo motors and the turret motor through interfacing for precise control and automation of machining processes.
Results:
- Achieved improved precision for tighter machining tolerances.
- Provided a cost-effective alternative to purchasing a new CNC turning center.
- Demonstrated technological advancement and scalability in machine tool technology through successful rebuilding and retrofitting.
